Tip of the Week

Does your cooking oil contain genetically modified ingredients such as GM soya?

Many cooking oil brands now contain genetically modified soya. This will be noted on the product packaging.

Under Trading Standards, it is a legal requirement to alert your customers of any ingredients that are genetically modified.

If your oil does contain genetically modified ingredients, you must note on menu or signage, that the food is “cooked using genetically modified soya oil”.

Alert

If you receive a different brand of cooking oil, check the label for allergens and GM products
