Tip of the Week

No dishwasher?  How do you effectively clean and sanitise chopping boards and knives without using a dishwasher?

If you do not have a dishwasher and wash crockery, cutlery and utensils in a sink follow these safe procedures –

  • Remove excess debris before washing
  • Wash in very hot soapy water – use gauntlets to protect hands
  • Rinse in hot water – dry crockery and cutlery using clean tea towels
  • Wash tea towels daily on a 90°C wash
  • Chopping boards and knives – Some bacteria could remain present on chopping boards during washing and rinsing so once rinsed, spray with sanitiser and allow to dry naturally

Alert
